Itinerary
6:30 Please be at Bushpig Backpackers reception by 6.30am at the latest. Depart at 6.45am in a customized pop-top safari minibus with driver/guide (max 8 passengers per trip). 12:00 Lunch (included) in Fort Portal and time to explore some of the crater lakes the area is famous for. 18:00 Arrive at your Bush Lodge in time for dinner (included). Accommodation in shared safari tents with twin/double beds, including bedding and shared bathroom facilities. Upgrades to en-suite bandas are available on request (please enquire for pricing/availability).
6:30 Early morning full breakfast at Bush Lodge (included). 7:00 Depart for Kasenyi Savannah, Queen Elizabeth National Park, for an early morning game drive. The savannah offers a great safari experience, with the opportunity to see lions, Uganda kob, hyena, elephant, warthog, waterbuck and possibly even the elusive leopard all with the stunning Rwenzori Mountains as a backdrop. 13:00 Take your packed lunch (included) on the Crater Explosion drive (don’t worry, the explosions were long, long ago!) enjoying beautiful views of the enormous craters, the Rift Valley Escarpment and the Kazinga Channel. 15:00 Two hour boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, where you may see buffalo, elephants, monitor lizards and of course vast numbers of different bird species as well as hippos and crocs. 18.00 Arrive back at Bush Lodge for dinner (included) and a second night.
6:30 Depart Bush Lodge with packed breakfast (included). 8:30 Arrive at Kalinzu Forest Reserve for up to 4 hours chimpanzee trekking with a tracker and guide. There are 6 groups of chimps, comprising over 300 individuals and there is more than an 80% chance that you’ll see at least some of them. Please bring suitable closed walking boots and long trousers. 12:30 Packed lunch at Kalinzu then depart for Kampala and Bushpig Backpackers.
